Description
Playa Manzanillo is a sublime white sand beach located just north of Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica. Unlike its [playa manzanillo surfing] nearby towns, Santa Teresa and Mal Pais, Manzanillo still remains a quiet and secluded place brimming with tranquility and tropical beauty. The family oriented beach is renowned for its sport opportunities, amazing nature and peaceful atmosphere.
The northern end of Playa Manzanillo features an offshore reef break which is somewhat inconsistent and unreliable. The waves break to the right and left over a reef rocky bottom. The break requires strong swells from northwest and west to work. The exposed break is best ridden when the offshore wind blows from the northeast. Groundswells from the northwest and west are more common than windswells. Watch out for rip currents and rocks.
